It’s not just what you say, but how you look too. In fact, think of your business like a blind date. Yeah, you might come bearing roses, but would you show up with your hair messy, teeth un-brushed and covered head-to-toe in grime? You could have the ‘best personality’ in the world, but what are your chances of a ‘second date?’ Slim to none. Worse than that though, imagine your competition is another suitor – one who’s well-dressed, well-groomed and well-spoken. None of that bodes ‘well’ for you, does it? They’ll walk away, arm-in-arm, with YOUR customer.
So the real question becomes, “Why is your company image any different than a blind date?” The answer is, it’s not.
Great design captures your customers and screams LOOK AT ME! You can have the greatest copy in the world, but when you put it in a cheap design any promotion will fall flat. Many companies try to do design themselves. Others will spend tons of money on the copywriting, printing, mailing, etc. and then skimp on design. They hire a neighbor or the cheapest quote they can find. Again, it’s a bit like primping for a night out and then putting on polyester leisure suit today.
